I am a middleschooler, do well in my studies and am a good athelete. My mom wanted to teach me Brain
gym and then Heartmath to improve my soccer skills. I preferred passing the ball instead of
finishing with a goal kick, something that aggravated my coaches and puzzled my parents. |

I used to get stressed when I had to read, the words jumped and I had to focus so much that I could
not really understand what I was reading. My doctors (Pediatrician and eye doctor) said there was
nothing wrong with my vision, but Bala insisted on me seeing a “developmental optometrist” – a
special kind of eye doctor and he prescribed special lenses for me. I do not find reading a strain
anymore……I’m not going to say I love reading…..but it is not stressful and I don’t feel like I’m
different from my friends when it comes to reading. Brain gym exercises specially for test anxiety,
improving my reading and comprehension skills, math and spelling have helped me improve my grades
overall.

I am captain of the U13 girls travelling soccer team, needed to wear glasses but felt I looked
like a nerd if I wore the sports eye glasses. When I missed hitting the ball into the goal even with
nobody breathing down on me, I got really embarrassed and felt that I let my team down. I was
already seeing Bala for BG and HeartMath and asked her if she could help me with wearing my contact
lenses ( my eye lids are very sensitive and I was taking more than 45 minutes to put just one on)
With just one Brain Gym Balance I am now able to put my contact lenses on in less than 2 minutes

My preschooler had absolutely no sense of safety. I did not know how I could teach my child safety
when he did not even seem to notice when he stepped on something hot (he is diagnosed within the
autistic spectrum of disorders). Bala helped me understand how his Nervous system worked and how I
could understand his unique way of communicating his needs. He did not use words so communication
was a challenge. I cannot say I understood what she was saying about the nervous system too well,
but I followed her recommendations for a “sensory diet” and I was rewarded after 8 months when
summer came around and we opened our pool. |

I get anxious about most things. I am a collage student and can’t deal with not getting an A grade.
At my part time job, I tend to over work, can never say no and end up doing other people’s unpleasant
job tasks ( work in a pet store—end up cleaning up after customer pets, even though it is not my job
….just to keep the peace) Most significantly I was terrified of driving. |

I'd like to reach out to any parents of school children in our district. Particularly to parents who
have children who are struggling and may be in basic skills classes. My son being one of these
children started a process called Brain Gym offered by the school as part of his physical therapy
(slight developmental delay, seems uncoordinated) and ADD therapy(focus). I've seen a great deal of
positive outcomes from this wonderful technique with my son's reading skills and overall focus skills
. I'm so impressed with these techniques that I've starting using them myself in my corporate work
life. The company I work for is pursing bringing the Brain Gym program in as an in house training.
It is based on learning thru movement. The Brain Gym and Heart Math programs work!! It is phenominal!
!! It's used by atheletes, performers, corporate executives.

As a physical therapist incorporating BG concepts into the fabric of my 1:1 treatment sessions has
helped me achieve outcomes faster. It has helped me structure my sessions and address the sensory
( Vestibular, proprioceptive etc) needs within my session itself—I have observed improvements in
Motor planning and eye hand/foot coordination in shorter periods of time. Parents and teachers are
reporting better focus, improved attention spans and increased social skills since the incorporation
of Brain Gym and Balance-Auditory-Visual exercises. Children notice better sports skills…ability to
connect with the ball.
